"Without music, life is a journey through a desert."
-Pat Conroy
Music is well said to be the speech of angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man is felt to be so divine. It brings us near to the infinite.
-Thomas Carlyle
Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.
-Frank Zappa
Music exists in an infinite amount of forms, everywhere you can think of. Even in the middle of a forest, with no humans nearby, one might perchance hear the symphony of nature. Music evokes emotion, perhaps better than any other artform. Songs can make you euphorious, dance, cry, laugh and sing. It crosses cultural boundaries, no matter where people come from, they all like music. Perhaps different flavors, but it's still music just the same. You can often tell a lot about a culture, just by listening to their music, for music often charts the progress of a civilization. (Compare, for example, music popular in the 50s to music popular today.)
